Second Generation Voices, full book cover

Naomi is co-editor of Second Generation Voices, a book that deals with post- traumatic stress experiences of children of survivors and perpetrators of the Nazi Holocaust. Naomi has lectured on that issue as well as on relationship issues, "Getting the Love you want," depression, stress, commun-ication, and on the issue of "loving too much."

"Second Generation Voices is a brilliant anthology of outstanding contributions about the legacy of the Holocaust and the Third Reich. It is a must read for any body who wants to learn more about the transmission of trauma from victims to their offspring and the children efforts to build a life in which they can nevertheless flourish. The contributions of the Germans shed a light on the complex struggle of children of perpetrators to construct an identity which rejects the evil their parents committed." Ursula Duba, author of: Tales From a Child Of The Enemy.

In these intensely personal and frequently dramatic pieces, understandable differences surface. The Jewish second generation is unified by a search for memory and family. Their German counterparts experience the opposite. Yet surprisingly a common ground is revealed Each must gravel with an household haunted by either oppressive memories or by denial. Each struggles to break down the barrier of silence. Each is deeply conscious that their identity is bound to confronting the effects of their parents legacy".

The Second Generation Voices boldly engenders authentic ground for discussion. Issues such as guilt, anger, faith, and accountability are explored in deeply felt memories, narratives and poems. Jews and Germans alike speak openly of forming and affirming their own identities and working through the psychological effects of inter-generational transmission of trauma.
